So speed dating has been around for just about 10 years now. My how time flies when you are having fun. Did you know that the original idea behind speed dating was thought up by a Rabbi who though it would be a great way for jewish singles to meet. Of course it was not long before the idea caught on to more than just the religious scene.

Of course it has been with the help of movies and tv shows that the idea of speed dating really took off. the concept of speed dating as a legitamite mathcmaking service has become big business. There are now tons of speed dating services all over the world. All of them trying to offer their own unique spin to the concept for example. People with a special interest, recent graduates, business people, gay or lesbian, religious as well as age specific.

So here is a quick run down of what basically happens when going through a speed dating event. In general the companies try and match up the same amount  of men to women obviously givng everyone and even playing field. You meet each person for a set amount of time for example 3 to 9 minutes. There are no exchanges of information during this period but you are taking notes of who you may or may not like. Then once the speed dating round is over you advise the matchmaking organizers of who you would like to make your contact information available to. Then it will be passed onto that person sometime after the event. So you may have to wait 24 to 48 hours to find out if you will be gettin a response from the the persons that you chose.

For those of you that are firm believers in first impressions are everything. Speed dating should be the very thing you are looking for to spice up your social life. Speed dating is a great way to meet a lot people with similar interest in a place where you know one thing for sure is that you are all there for the same thing and that’s to meet people looking for a date.
